Once you're logged into the ClickAndChat Client Application, you will need to obtain your site's unique tracking code and add it to all of your web pages. To access the tracking code for your site:
- Click on the Options tab at the top of the software
- Press the Create Tracking Code button
Copy and paste this tracking code onto all of your web pages, the code should be placed exactly where you want the live chat image to appear on your site. Once added, your online and offline chat graphics will be loaded from our servers. For instructions on how to change these graphics visit the changing website graphics support page.
Tracking secure pages: By default, the client application will present you with the tracking code that is meant to be placed on "Regular Pages". On the dialog box you will notice there is a tab for SSL Pages, to avoid error messages on your SSL pages, ensure that you're using the "SSL Pages" tracking code on your secure pages. It is also OK to use the SSL tracking code on none SSL pages.
Track pages but don't display a click to chat button: There may be some pages that you do not want the live chat image to appear on, however you still want to track visitor activity on these pages. When obtaining the tracking code from the software application, you will notice a check box below the code which reads "Track pages but don't display a Click-To-Chat link", when you check this box the code will slightly change to only track site visitors without displaying a click to chat image. This code should be added to the pages you do not want the click to chat images to appear on.
Tracking multiple websites: Remember that a tracking code is specific to the site that the code is being added to, when monitoring multiple websites using our software, it is important that you obtain the specific code for the site which you're adding the code to. To make sure you're obtaining the correct code, ensure the site you're generating the code for is highlighted under the Monitored Sites list before pressing the Create Tracking Code button. You will first need to add a new site license to your account before the site will appear under your monitored sites list.
